BAchelor of Arts or B.A

BAchelor of Arts or B.A is one of the most demanding undergraduate programmes in Arts. It is a three-year undergraduate programme that strives to give students with wide understanding of the humanities and social sciences through the several B.A concentrations available. Students can work as Executive Associates, HR Managers, Copywriters, Marketing Managers, Sales Directors, and several other similar profiles after graduation. After graduation, students can also consider joining Civil Services or go for higher education like Master of Business Administration (MB.A), Master of Arts (MA) or Law. The B.A specialisation determines the average pay offered following a B.A course.

B.A can be pursued in various disciplines such as English, Hindi, History, Journalism, and Psychology. The course can be undertaken right after passing class 12th in India. Usually, a three-year course Arts programme is offered by colleges under various streams such as Design, Mass Communication, and Hospitality. B.A (Hons) or B.A General course can be pursued in a full-time, part-time, correspondence, or distance education mode. It is mandatory to study five subjects along with a few elective subjects. BAchelor of Commerce or B.Com

BAchelor of Commerce or B.Com course is a three-year UG degree course recognised by the Universities Grants Commission (UGC). Along with the full-time delivery mode, one can also pursue Distance B.Com or Online B.Com course. B.Com is one of the most popular courses amongst the Class 12 graduates with the Commerce stream. As per the AISHE reports, with nearly 9.33 lakh enrolment, B.Com has been the third most desired course in India after Class 12. Besides B.Com, candidates can also pursue B.Com (Honours) if they wish for in-depth knowledge in the Commerce stream. The Honours course is designed to offer knowledge in specialised subjects; while, the general B.Com course focuses on an overview of all the subjects under the umbrella of the Commerce stream. Apart from B.Com General or B.Com Hons, several universities offer integrated B.Com courses; B.Com LLB, B.Com MB.A and B.Com CMA are a few of the integrated courses on offer.

The three-year B.Com course is divided into six semesters. Students pursuing the course can choose elective subjects of their choice in some semesters. Subjects taught during a B.Com degree course include Financial Accounting, Business Laws, Economics, Taxation, Auditing, Cost Accounting, among others. With a B.Com degree, one get an option to start a career in related fields such as Finance, Accounting, B.Anking, Insurance, etc. The average starting salary of a B.Com graduate is INR 3 LPA. Besides B.Com, a major chunk of students passing Class 12 with Commerce stream aspire for Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretaryship, and Cost Accounting. After completion of the B.Com course from a recognised institute, one can go for courses in Teaching, Advertising, Journalism, Mass Communication, Design, Law, etc.
